My son Alex's 85 XR4Ti in progress - He's 14 and our plan is to get this car in like new condition by the time he is 151/2 for his driving fun and to stand out from the others!  In a Merkur, that's easy to do!
Engine compartment images added 7 August 2008 - The XR was out for engine work & upgrades and is now back!
One more wheel-well and tire/rim to complete, then detail the engine box, then it's to the inside during the winter, then paint in the spring.
11/9/2008 - My son and I replaced Rotors and Calipers today on the XR - Nice slotted and drilled rotors from R1 Concept and Beck Arnley Calipars.  A complete rebuild of the rear braking system is next.  I Also obtained rear drums from R1 Concept as well and have a set of original FOMOCO pads and wheel cylinders and all new hardware.
11/10 - bought a really nice in-the-tank fuel pump from Todd at "The Ford Connection" in Athol, Ma Today - Lot's of MERKUR Parts....
11/17 - snagged a really good grey dash on eBay today - Been looking for a while and got lucky on this one (Thanks to a "tip" from Jeff in Connecticut and for not bidding on it (-: )
My son and I will have plenty to do with his car in the garage as the cold winter months approach

SHORT STORY!  HARD STARTING XR WHEN FUEL TANK IS AT 1/2 OR LESS THAN 1/2 FULL!  In the XR below, in-tank fuel pump short hose had a crack in it and sucked air when at 1/2 or below.  If your XR is hard starting at 1/2 or less, you may want to pull the pump and check it out.
